Nadja ŽlenderMy dog Ginny and I come from Ljubljana. In addition to studying biology I'm very happily involved in canine activities, and of course those include Ginny, who is a two and a half-year-old Australian shepherd. She needs to a lot of activity and that's how we took up frisbee.
We've only been involved in the sport for a short time - our first training session was in the summer of 2008, in Tivoli Park. With the help of tips and suggestions we got at those sessions our enthusiasm as well as our proficiency increased. In October we took part in a one-day seminar in Trbovlje, and a month later applied our newly acquired skills at a 4fun competition, where our results were not exactly stellar, but we had a great time.
We have made steady progress since that first training session. Ginny catches long throws happily and consistently, and we're learning some freestyle elements. Here I have more problems than Ginny does, since she seems to have chasing, leaping, and landing well already programmed into her paws.
Ginny and I are also deeply involved in SAR, which we have been training since Ginny was a puppy. In addition to twice weekly training sessions we spend a lot of time going on group exercises and camps in the field, and we are also involved in other activities such as visits to preschools and putting on shows for children. We like to relay by going hiking in the mountains.
