I'm Petra and I come from Ljubljana. I first started playing frisbee with my three-year-old border collie Buffy in November of 2006, when I pulled a muscle in my back and I couldn't throw balls and sticks. When I saw how much Buffy enjoyed this new game, I became more involved in the sport.

For starters I ordered five different frisbees through a group purchase that we organized here, and Buffy and I played with them happily in the field behind the apartment building where I live. Then I borrowed a frisbee DVD to learn different throws and later I took part in Jean's first seminar, which was in September 2007. At the end of the seminar we had a little competition in mindistance, and Buffy and I were fourth. :)

Buffy and I kept on training and having fun up until the next seminar in April 2008, led by Jakub Stybr from the Czech Republic. I learnt lots of new throws and freestyle elements, which we put to use 2 days later at the fun competition, where there were also freestyle presentations. We finished 18th in minidistance at that competition (during the second round Buffy peed on the field and we were disqualified), and in 14th place in dogdartbee (I'm not very accurate when it comes to hitting targets).

I introduced my younger not quite two years old female, Gia, also a border collie, to frisbee when she was about five months old. Our first task was for her to pick up the frisbee from the ground, hold it and bring it to me. Once that exercise was mastered, we started chasing rollers. Then we continued with short throws in the air and finished with her jumping over my leg.

Gia loves to run after and catch long distance frisbees. Since she doesn't land very well I don't do freestyle elements with her. Time and weather permitting, we stay in shape playing frisbee in nearby fields. In summer cloth frisbees come in handy, for jumping and swimming in the water.
