Sara Kalin

Hi.  ;) I'm Sara Kalin, and the reason for my description on this site is my golden retriever Riva (officially Monte gerass baby from the river). We're from Dobravlje, near Ajdovščina. I'm currently in my last year of gymnasium, and next year (if all goes according to plan) I'll be studying philosophy and sociology in Ljubljana. Riva's educational path is considerably more interesting, so the next sentences will be about her. We were initiated into the exciting world of dogfrisbee by Jean McCollister, who explained that any dog can play frisbee, regardless of breed. So when Riva was about eight months old we started going to Jean's frisbee classes at the Ajdovščina Kennel Club. Our progress was snail-like until we attended a seminar with some invited Czechs, and discovered the wonders of cloth frisbees. All hail to the cloth frisbee, which opened the doors of playing frisbee to Riva ;). From that time onwards we have been improving steadily, and Riva has also taken to plastic frisbees. After taking a break over the winter we are now continuing to train with Jean.

Riva adores doing different overs and her catching and retrieval of longer throws have gotten much better. In July we're planning to attend a frisbee seminar with Sabine and Marcus in Germany, and can hardly wait.

Frisbee is not our only activity. We have also completed an obedience class and passed the BBH exam, we've been to dog shows around Slovenia, we train Rally obedience (and I hope we'll soon go to a competition), we practice agility obstacles, and Riva loves retrieving things from water and doing various tricks. We're also planning on being involved in the therapy dogs group. So we're never bored.
